Digital Sounds

Digital Sounds is a joint series of events organized by the state capital Hannover as UNESCO City of Music Hannover, the Hannover Region with the Hörregion initiative and hannoverimpuls, the economic development agency of the state capital and Hannover Region. The events are organized and implemented by the kreHtiv network.

Launched in 2016 with a conference, the series includes various formats such as concerts and workshops. The focus is on new trends and the further development of digital sounds in the areas of sound design, sound listening, the music industry, the medical sector and the digital economy.

Sound goes digital!

Hanover's creative scene covers an enormous spectrum: from fashion and app development to music and film production, everything is represented here in outstanding quality. Cross-innovation and cross-industry trends such as digitalization also lead to synergies and networking between the various creative sectors. The Digital Sounds for Auditory Design and Experience symposium in Hanover was created in this context.

About Digital Sounds

Digital Sounds links sound design, sound listening, the music industry and the digital economy. This creates a platform for topics relating to these core aspects in order to proactively boost up-and-coming specialist areas such as sound technology and music electronics, software/apps, computer games and virtual reality (3D listening) through to acoustic brand management and sound branding. This initiative also focuses on sound hearing, which includes hearing acoustics and hearing health with digitally supported acoustic perception.

The series includes various formats such as concerts and workshops. The focus is on new trends and the further development of digital sounds in the fields of sound design, sound listening, the music industry, the medical sector and the digital economy.

Formats and events

Previous formats included specialist conferences in 2016 and 2017 as well as subsequent larger and smaller networking events/meet-ups (including 2018, 2019, 2021), which focused on different subject areas. Most of the participants came from the music industry/scene, some of them from the audio industry, who have a particular interest in the field of digitalization.The idea of the Digital Sounds project is to identify synergies and interfaces between the industries by networking these players so that new, innovative and also economic projects can be developed.
