Building Information Modeling
Building Information Modeling (BIM)is revolutionizing the way construction projects are planned, designed, built and managed. BIMis an innovativeapproach that creates digital models of buildings or infrastructure projects andintegrates all parties involved - from architecture and engineering firms to contractors and facility managers - on one platform in a collaborative working environment. These models contain not only geometric information, but also data on materials, components, processes and services.
A key advantage of BIM lies in its ability to minimize errors and increase efficiency. By creating a digital twin, potential construction problems can be identified and rectified at an early stage, even before the actual construction process begins. This not only reduces the cost of rework, but also optimizes the entire construction process. In addition, BIM enables better visualization and simulation, making it easier for stakeholders to make informed decisions and changes in real time. This helps to improve communication between the different trades and optimize the overall performance of the project. Another important feature of BIM is a high level of sustainability and process-oriented life cycle management of buildings.
Overall, BuildingInformation Modelingoffersatransformative method to improve the efficiency, quality and sustainability of construction projects and inter-company collaboration.
As BIM has become the standard for construction and planning projects and BIM expertise will also be required when tendering for public construction projects, the Hannover Region Economic Development Agency would like to enable medium-sized architecture and planning offices as well as construction companies and executing trades to take on the new field of technology and compete with large offices and property developers.
The region's business development department raises awareness of BIM among SMEs, networks them and initiates joint pilot projects. The Hannover Region is therefore also a member of theLower Saxony BIM Cluster.
The Hannover Region Economic Development Agency offers consulting support for companies implementing BIM applications and provides further information on applying for grant programs for necessary investment decisions.
