Sustainable model project

From 2012-2022, the state capital of Hanover developed the "Lister Damm / Am Listholze industrial estate" (KlimaList for short) in the north-east of Hanover in the direction of a sustainable industrial estate.

The project was launched by the city's economic development department with the aim of making local companies - and therefore the business park - fit for future challenges, such as climate protection.

With the help of funding from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), a climate protection concept was completed in 2017 and a climate protection manager was also appointed from 2018 to 2021.

Balance sheet

Overall, the city draws a positive conclusion. Entrepreneurs have informed themselves about climate protection and taken advantage of various offers such as information events, energy consultations or the implementation of individual company measures with the help of a funding program for sustainable business. The pandemic restrictions towards the end of the management period were not all bad news either. For example, the digital marketplace on the internet was created during this time and is now used as an information and communication platform. The KlimaList business network also emerged from this process, which is mainly managed by two female entrepreneurs from the business park.

ClimateList corporate network

Following the termination of climate protection management, economic development as a driving force for sustainable development in the List industrial estate is moving into second place and handing over the baton to the KlimaList business network as a driving force for sustainable development on site. This transition has already been initiated by the transfer of the "Marktplatz KlimaList" website from the city to the business network. However, the Economic Development Agency will continue to support the network as a supporter in order to further promote sustainable development locally.

Aim of the network

The main concern of the protagonists is the networking of companies as well as institutions and interested parties at all levels. The aim is for companies to get to know each other better, exchange information and pursue common interests and/or projects in order to improve the overall business climate. At the same time, the network also focuses on sustainability, so that something is done for the environment and climate protection at the same time.

Companies from the List are invited to contribute to a good climate - in every respect - in the network, for example at one of the monthly company meetings or by contacting the network spokeswomen directly.

The corporate network kicked off after the coronavirus period with a presentation event on August 29, 2022 at the BMW Hanover List branch, which provided information on e-mobility and energy procurement for companies and offered networking opportunities. The topic of the evening was how companies in the KlimaList business park can work together to become climate-neutral. In the packed Steinhuder Meer hall at the business development agency, numerous participants learned about funding and consulting opportunities.

Ms. Gabriele Zingsheim, Head of Economic Development for the State Capital of Hanover, opened the evening together with the KlimaList business network. The aim was to provide companies with the best possible support, to network companies with each other and to set up companies and the entire business park in a sustainable way.

The Climate Neutral Alliance in the Hannover Region was also presented. All alliance partners are committed to being climate-neutral by 2035. The Hannover Region Climate Protection Agency will provide companies with expert support in reducing greenhouse gases through GHG balancing, advice on tailored measures, offsetting, certification and communication.

Mr. Littwin from proKlima - The Enercity Fund provided information on "PV applications and proKlima funding offers for companies". In the case of funding for so-called non-residential buildings, expert advice on solar and heating can be taken advantage of or funding for heat supply, solar power facades or solar & green roofs can be applied for. Examples of the various subsidy products were presented, advantages and disadvantages named and insights given into which subsidies can be claimed. For example, tax advice for companies is also possible as part of the PV-Lotse subsidy.

To round things off, Mr. Fiedler from envibe GmbH used a best-practice example to illustrate how a heating renewal can be implemented from the perspective of an energy consultant. envibe GmbH offers companies tailor-made solutions to become climate-neutral.

Afterwards, the participants took the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other.

The event marks the start of a series of events for companies in the KlimaList business park. At least two more events are to follow in 2023 - this time with shorter distances directly in the business park.
