Creative industries and multimedia

A lively cultural and creative scene has become one of the most important location factors in terms of retaining and attracting skilled workers. It contributes significantly to a liveable environment and a positive image of the location.

Around 550,000 people live in the state capital of Hannover, and almost 1.2 million people live in the Hannover Region as a whole. In addition to sectors such as the automotive industry, healthcare, production technology, insurance and finance, Hannover is also a central hub for the (international) economy as a trade fair and congress city. However, the cultural and creative industries in particular harbor a less obvious but nevertheless considerable resource: over 4,700 companies with more than 25,300 employees (including approx. 18,000 employees subject to social insurance contributions) generate a total turnover of over 2.6 billion euros.

kre|H|tiv Network Hannover e.V.

The kre|H|tiv Netzwerk Hannover e.V. was founded by hannoverimpuls in 2011 to specifically address the needs of cultural and creative professionals in the region. With almost 300 members from the creative economies, it is the largest network of its kind in Germany.

The kreHtiv Network Hannover is the association for professional creatives in the Hannover region. They come from all 12 sub-sectors of the cultural and creative industries and also include all creative professionals who are employed in other sectors.

The aim is to support, network and raise the profile of the creative economies in the Hannover Region. In this way, the network contributes to the creative innovation location and also increases the supra-regional perception of the location and its attractiveness for young talent and skilled workers. Cooperation projects with regional and supra-regional institutions and networks play an important role in strengthening the exchange between creative and other economic sectors and utilizing their function as creative and innovation drivers.

The office is located in HALLE 96 - Zentrum für Kreative and the interdisciplinary team takes care of the needs and inquiries of members and professional creatives in the Hanover region from there. Numerous projects and major events have already been carried out as part of the network's work in the past: from the IDN-Blvd. as part of the Maschseefest (2017-2019) to the Freaky Fashion Festival (2016-2018), from which the "Fashion born in Hannover" network emerged; the implementation of HannoLabs, a camp for learning and applying the design thinking method, the design and support of the Digital Fund and the SOZIOVATION funding program (both commissioned by the Hannover Region), the Creative Native project for young talent (2020-2021, funded by the state capital of Hannover), the initiation of the Hannover Music Community ZWAEM and the initiation and founding of a state association for the cultural and creative industries in Lower Saxony (VNKK e.V.).

Time and again, the network also deals with topics relevant to society as a whole, such as gender equality and social, ecological and economic sustainability, using methods, approaches and impulses from the cultural and creative industries.
