Generation H2 - the network
Developing hydrogen as an important energy source on the way to aCO2-neutraleconomic area is a challenge that can only be mastered jointly, interdisciplinary and with know-how transfer between industry, research, education and administration.
For example, there is the challenge of synchronizing the development of an infrastructure for H2 refuelling with the purchase of vehicles, as investments on the supply or demand side alone are not economically viable. To speed up implementation, H2 suppliers and customers must work hand in hand.
TheGeneration H2networkis intended tomake such collaborations possible by bringing together information on best-practice examples, know-how and interested companies and institutions for a regular exchange.
The aim is to reach a critical mass of players who are interested in purchasing H2 vehicles, for example.
Only through matching and cooperation between potential hydrogen suppliers and consumers will it be possible to invest in the necessary infrastructure, e.g. for the construction of a filling station or for the establishment of H2 production using electrolysis.
One example of such cooperation is the construction of an electrolysis plant in the SeWAGE PLANT H project and the planned conversion of AHA refuse collection vehicles and public transport buses to hydrogen drives.
The more companies and institutions get involved in the network, the greater the chance of being able to realize concrete implementation projects. This pays off not only for the environment, but also for the companies involved. After all, sustainable management is not only an image factor, but also offers lasting cost benefits in the medium to long term.
