VRECH @ Administration: Virtual Reality in the Hannover Region

With the "VRECH @ Administration" project, the Hannover Region is taking a decisive step into the future of internal communication. The aim is to test virtual reality (VR) for hybrid work and communication processes and to evaluate potential applications in administration.

Innovation potential of VR The project aims to show how VR technology can create added value for the administration. Focal points of the test include

• Efficient meetings : Shorten meeting times and reduce "zoom fatigue" through immersive experiences.
• Equality in exchange : use of avatars to reduce power asymmetries and create collaborative "safer spaces".
• Sustainability : Reduction of CO₂ emissions through fewer business trips and more energy-efficient technologies, a contribution to "decarbonization".

Departments involved and process The Building, Environment, Social Affairs, Youth, Education, Economic Development and other decentralized departments are working closely together as part of the one-year test. The aim is to develop use cases that make VR usable to increase efficiency and for sustainable processes in administration. The project is being supported by the University of Münster, which is providing scientific findings on sustainability and inclusion.

With this pilot project, the Hannover Region is demonstrating that digitalization and innovation can also be used in a forward-looking way in administration - for greater efficiency, sustainability and equal opportunities.
