Region and LHH in dialog with real estate experts at MIPIM
A high-calibre delegation from the region and the state capital of Hanover has been attending the MIPIM real estate trade fair in Cannes since today with a wide range of expectations and a tight work schedule. They will be represented at a joint stand for the seventh time until Friday (March 15). At the "German Cities and Regions Pavilion", the Region and City of Hanover are appearing together with the cities of Leipzig and the Rhine-Neckar region, providing information about the latest developments in the location and seeking dialog with international investors and developers, as well as with other cities. The delegation led by Regional President Steffen Krach and Lord Mayor Belit Onay will be accompanied by Hanover's Head of Economic and Environmental Affairs Anja Ritschel, City Planning Officer Thomas Vielhaber, Ulf-Birger Franz, Head of the Hanover Region's Department of Economic Affairs, Transport and Education, as well as the commercial law firm KSB INTAX and Deutsche Hypo - Nord/LB Real Estate.
The trade fair has expanded its traditional format to include the "Housing Matters!" congress on the day before the actual trade fair. As a result, MIPIM is once again opening up from an investor and transaction trade fair to other social issues that also affect the real estate industry. Yesterday, Monday (March 11), Lord Mayor Belit Onay presented Hanover's approach at the international panel "Best of Housing: a worldwide tour of best innovation", which preceded the trade fair, and discussed the challenges in housing construction and the different approaches. There, he met with other mayors and Federal Minister of Building Klara Geywitz for a discussion.
The focus of today's first day of the trade fair was a panel discussion on "Cities of tomorrow: Best practice of three German cities Hannover, Leipzig and Mannheim", in which Regional President Krach, moderated by Lord Mayor Onay, spoke with representatives of the stand partner cities about the current challenges and solutions in the three participating cities and regions. The equally diverse investments in the fields of science and research attracted particular attention from the large audience.
In addition to the transformation of Hanover's city centre and housing construction, the representatives of the state capital will focus on the revitalization of the Chatham Barracks and the future project DeunerViertel ("Deurag-Nerag") during the talks at the trade fair. "There is no other place where you can share so many experiences of major European cities with inner-city mobility, the reclamation of public space and the revitalization of inner cities in such a short space of time. Madrid, Poznan and Lyon are on my agenda - our path in Hanover is also highly interesting for others," says city planning officer Thomas Vielhaber.
