Inclusion, equality, integration, demographic change, skills shortages, climate change and much more. - the list of social challenges we face is long. New ideas for our future are needed! In the Future Workshop, we want tousetheThinkingDesignmethod to jointly develop new innovative products, services or processes that create real added value.

Design thinking can be used to find (unconventional) solutions to problems quickly and efficiently. What is important here is that all solutions are based on a deep understanding of the needs of the people affected by the problem. Based on this, new solutions are developed together and subjected to an initial test for economic viability and feasibility.

Participation is possible either as a problem giver or as a problem solver

Participation as a problem provider

Asa problem donor, you can apply for a starting place in the workshop with a specific problem or social challenge for which you are looking for a solution. Problems can be, for example, poverty in old age, loneliness, lack of access to education, lack of participation in the labor market or environmental pollution.

The only important thing is that you are familiar with the problem area and have the motivation to work together on a new solution in the workshop.

To register as a problem provider, simply fill out the questionnaire at the following link:

Participation as a problem solver

Asa problem solver, you will work in a team on innovative solutions to a specific challenge posed by the problem creator. You will learn valuable methods from design thinking and develop concrete solutions for a problem in your field of interest. You will get to know lots of great people who want to take on social responsibility.

Participants have the opportunity to contribute their own problems and work on them in interdisciplinary working groups. Basic design thinking methods are taught to give participants the tools they need to develop creative (social entrepreneurial) solutions.

The workshop promotes active listening, empathy and collaborative teamwork to develop a deeper understanding of the needs and challenges of the target group.

Professor Gunnar Spellmeyer fromHanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts guides the participants through the entire design thinking process, from defining the challenge, brainstorming and prototyping to presenting the solutions to an expert jury. The event creates a supportive and motivating environment in which participants can develop their creativity and realize their potential as social innovators.

  1. Grouping: The approved problem creators present their challenge and recruit team members to work on the solution in the workshop.
  2. Exploration: The team members have the opportunity to question the problem creators intensively about the issues.
  3. ConcretizationProblem definition: After this immersion in the topic, the problems to be solved are further concretized in group work.
  4. Idea phase: This is followed by work on possible solutions using various creativity techniques. Feedback from invited experts is also included in this phase.
  5. Prototype + business model: The first prototypes are then created to test the solution and a business model is developed.
  6. Final presentation: The results are presented to a jury at the end.

The teams are supported by experienced design thinking coaches throughout the workshop. Participation is free of charge. After the workshop, there is the opportunity to implement the ideas with the support of the Social Innovation Center and NEXSTER.

Participation in the workshop is open to anyone who wants to take an in-depth look at the topic of "social innovation" and play an active role in shaping the future. The professional background is irrelevant: the decisive factor is the desire and willingness to actively participate in a team.

Regardless of whether you work in business, administration or in one of the creative industries. Whether you have already come into contact with the topic of the workshop or whether it is completely new to you: you are very welcome!

Register quickly: Places are limited and will be allocated in the order in which registrations are received. Participation is free of charge!
