Founding story March 2021 - BAUKUNST.PLUS

BAUKUNST.PLUS was founded in February 2020 with the focus on making the art of building - architecture, interior design and landscape architecture - more visible and, above all, more sustainable. As an interior designer and communications expert, founder Kathrin Albrecht combines two disciplines that dovetail perfectly in her projects.

While BAUKUNST.PR is dedicated to architecture and sustainability communication, BAUKUNST.ID makes corporate responsibility, attitude and identity visible in the form of design and spatial concepts.

Kathrin, what exactly does your offer look like?

As a communications expert, I offer BAUKUNST.PR support in the field of press and public relations. Through several years of marketing and PR activities in architectural offices, I know what is important. Be it the development and implementation of a new corporate design, the creation of printed matter and websites or successful participation in tendering procedures. BAUKUNST.ID is all about the built places. Here I stage the corporate design in the space and make brands an emotional experience. My favorite way to do this is by telling stories with the design.

How do your clients benefit from BAUKUNST.PLUS?

I always take a holistic view of projects and construction sites, with my heart beating for sustainability. For me, it's about creating feel-good places, questioning the needs of space utilization and sometimes breaking new ground. You can also achieve amazing results if you don't always redo everything, but give existing things new functions and upcycle them.

What are your goals?

I am currently working on CSR communication in architectural PR and have conducted great interviews with leading experts in sustainable building. I now want to make the results visible to everyone so that we can learn something from them. I am also working on various public sector projects as long as the funding has not (yet) been canceled due to coronavirus. I also advise building material manufacturers on marketing their sustainable products. Corona has also shown here that there is a need for real alternatives to trade fair presentations, for example. I am also creating my own co-working space. Anyone who wants to exchange ideas with creative minds on a permanent basis is always welcome here.

What tips do you have for other founders?

Just do it and be brave. Go networking, become visible, use the right social media channels. Ask questions. A friendly request is usually rewarded with great help. As a founder, I took the corona period in my stride. I stuck with it anyway and am convinced that things will continue positively. Believe in your ideas!

Kathrin on the cooperation with hannoverimpuls:

I took part in the start-up workshop years ago. I was also able to draw on what I learned in 2020. Before I founded the company, hannoverimpuls supported me in drawing up business and financial plans, worked with me to prepare the application for a MikroSTARTer loan and carried out the required profitability test. I then won the Plug & Work Award with my business plan in 2020. The prize money covered the cost of renting my office, which helped me a lot during the first lockdown.

Melissa Jung, Project Manager Start-up and Entrepreneurship at hannoverimpuls, on Kathrin and her start-up BAUKUNST.PLUS:

Kathrin brings a lot of experience from her previous professional career. We were able to help her in particular with the creation of business plans. Her idea is good! And she has shown that she can keep a cool head even in times of crisis.
