EXIST start-up grant for "Deutsch Express"
Hanover, June 24, 2021
Visas, opening a bank account, insurance, language courses and more - Irfan Malik, Mariyam Malik and Zulqarnain Sheikh know very well from their own experience how many administrative procedures and formalities have to be completed when immigrating to Germany. That's why theDeutschExpressteam wants touseits platformtoconnect authorities, companies and immigrants.
The aim is tobuild bridges - and facilitate entry and integration. The technical innovation of www.deutschexpress.com lies in the simplification and automation of the entire bureaucratic process for immigrants. "We have been supporting people privately with our tips for a long time.
We want to use the platform to professionally optimize immigration for everyone involved," says Irfan Malik, describing the aim of the new service, which is to be rolled out in a pilot project for Lower Saxony from the end of August and will then be available for the whole of Germany by the end of 2023.
A win-win situation for everyone:less work for offices and authorities, no more long waiting times and full waiting rooms - and faster processing for immigrants. From language courses and interfaces with banks and insurance companies to registration and visas, deutschexpress.com aims to provide everything from a single source and make it bookable.
The team initially wants to offer the platform in German and English and then roll out the service in Chinese, Arabic, Persian, Russian, French, Spanish and Turkish. With the EXIST start-up grant of135,000 euros fromthe funding program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), which is co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF), Deutsch Express primarily covers personnel and development costs; the foundation of their GmbH is currently underway. All three founders work at the L3S research center at Leibniz Universität Hannover.
Deutsch Express is also a success story ofstartingbusiness, the joint start-up service of hannoverimpuls and Leibniz Universität Hannover: "The Deutsch Express team is very deserving of the EXIST start-up grant. They have been working tirelessly on the project for many months now. If they succeed in integrating the platform across the board with the authorities, it would be a huge relief for people who come to Germany to study or work," explains Tobias Meyer, start-up consultant at starting business at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Thanks to theEXISTfunding, Deutsch Express now has one year to conclude the relevant cooperation agreements with the immigration authorities, banks and insurance companies and launch the deutschexpress. com service platform onto the market. "We have also already held talks with relevant advisors in Pakistan - my home country - and China, are now launching a social media campaign and want to display flyers in authorities and consulates soon. The sooner interested parties hear about our offer, the better!" enthuses Irfan Malik.
