Children's events in the construction trailer with a fun factor
The great experience of creating something with your own hands not only inspires children, but now also senior citizens.
Sandy Jäger's concept also impressed the jury at this year's Startup-Impuls competition. The experienced event manager's FUNTASIEMOBIL won second prize in the solo startup category.
Sandy, what is special about your concept?
At events or private functions that take place during the day, children want to experience exciting things. And this is exactly where the FUNTASIEMOBIL comes in. Just like a children's birthday party, each event is planned individually, from the idea to the implementation. It is very important to me that children have fun using tools. For example, I have noticed that many children have never held a hammer before. We want to change that. And who knows - maybe we're already encouraging an enthusiasm for crafts!
We are now not only out and about with the construction trailer at events and children's birthday parties. We now also offer construction kits for senior citizens in care homes and organize craft workshops for people who need simple tips for their own household.
How did the idea come about?
I was a department manager in an event agency, traveling a lot with little sleep and a lot of work. With our second child, I wanted to be able to better combine work and family life and put my idea of the FUNTASIEMOBIL into practice. I didn't actually want to do that until much later. Now I work on my ideas and implementations together with my partner, and our children are the best advisors. Especially when it comes to the building sets, which are supposed to be fun for the children.
Has corona affected your development?
I started with the FUNTASIEMOBIL in 2020 and was only able to realize very few events due to Corona. But I used the time to develop lots of new ideas. That's how the FUNTASIETÜTE with small craft and work activities came about, which is now also used in retirement homes. The products are available in our online store, so I am no longer limited to the region. The first packages have already been delivered abroad.
I also offered lots of free events in my town during the lockdown to give families and children in particular a change from their everyday coronavirus lives. There was a field gallery with chalk art, a cuddly animal safari, a tinkering tour and the chicken walk painting event. Although I didn't earn any money with this, I was able to give free rein to my creativity and at the same time provide some variety in the village, which was gratefully received and very well received.
What are your tips for other founders?
Don't give up and don't let crises get you down. Think outside the box, be far-sighted and persistent. Sometimes even against yourself. Be creative and don't just think about money. And jump over your shadow when you need help. Think about things that make you happy. My free corona campaigns have given me a lot: a fulfilling task, great contacts and, last but not least, I was able to present my company.
