The ONE Tech Campus - More space for innovation in the Hannover Region
The ONE Tech Campus in Garbsen is an important step in promoting innovation in the Hannover Region and offers forward-looking prospects for science and business.
On 62,000 square meters, seven building units will provide optimal conditions for scientific work, production, the development of new business models, research and development. There will also be a technology center with a makerspace, administration rooms and student accommodation.
The Hannover Region will rent approx. 4,000 m² of office, workshop and event space in the first construction phase through a newly founded company as the anchor tenant in order to establish its own new services there. On December 17, 2024, the Regional Assembly decided to provide this GmbH with the necessary start-up capital.
A successful concept
The asto Group 's concept came out on top in the bidding competition. The target groups of the new location are student teams, start-ups, young growth companies, innovative SMEs, technology companies and the scientific community.
Ideal ecosystem for innovation
A direct connection to universities, science and research is essential in order to create a perfect ecosystem for innovative start-ups.
Incubator: nucleus for start-ups
The first completed area and at the same time the heart of the location will be the incubator. The regional business development agency will rent start-up space there. Young companies can use experimental laboratories and small workshops here.
A comprehensive startup ecosystem
The incubator is part of a comprehensive start-up ecosystem that integrates Leibniz University's Mechanical Engineering Campus Garbsen and other higher education institutions in the Hannover Region. A cooperation agreement on the content of the incubator and other parts of the ONE Tech Campus has already been concluded between the Hannover Region and Leibniz Universität.
Unique location advantages
The proximity of the ONE Tech Campus to the Mechanical Engineering Campus offers a unique locational advantage in Germany. The other buildings on the ONE Tech Campus are being developed step by step. They could, for example, accommodate uses such as R&D departments of companies and non-university research institutions.
Schedule and outlook
The development plan of the city of Garbsen will become legally binding at the end of 2025. The investor's construction plans and the building permit should be completed during the first quarter of 2026 so that construction can begin in spring 2026.
