From March 15-18, the region and the state capital of Hanover presented themselves at MIPIM, the world's leading trade fair for real estate in Cannes. The aim was to position the Hannover economic region in an international comparison. The focus was on business and science as well as mobility under the guiding theme of sustainable urban development. Hannover once again participated in the now traditional joint presentation "German Cities and Regions", which also included Bremen, Hannover's partner city Leipzig, Nuremberg and the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

For Alexander Skubowius, Head of the Economic and Employment Promotion Department of the Hannover Region, Hannover's presence at the trade fair is thoroughly positive.

"The Hannover economic region is an internationally sought-after and very interesting location. In order to achieve our goal of becoming an innovation region, we rely on strong regional cooperation between science and industry. Of course, the excellent infrastructural connections of our region also play a key role here,

Alexander Skubowius emphasizes the strong perception of Hanover. The motto of this year's MIPIM is "driving urban change".

In the view of Kay de Cassan, Head of the Department of Economics of the City of Hanover, this leitmotif fits in very well with Hanover's development:

"We have nothing to hide in international comparison - on the contrary. With our inner-city dialogue, we recognized early on that we need to work intensively on the transformation of cities and have set the course for this. The issues of sustainability and structural change in cities and regions have finally arrived in the real estate industry."

In addition to a very good and constructive exchange with major project developers on current projects and topics from the real estate industry, there was a lively exchange with other cities and regions, such as Barcelona and Madrid, on future topics of regional and urban development.

Regional President Steffen Krach and Lord Mayor Belit Onay had to cancel the trip at short notice due to local commitments caused by the current situation in Ukraine.

The leading trade fair MIPIM began on Tuesday (March 15) and runs until Friday (March 18). The five cities and regions on the joint stand have a high level of attractiveness for investors and project developers.

MIPIM did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. With their presence at the trade fair, the partners are showing an international presence in difficult times and want to send a positive signal for Hannover as a real estate location. Transparency in the regional real estate and investment markets is also important. The presence at MIPIM makes a significant contribution to this.
