Economic Committee recommends funding for the "Ecothon" project
Climate change is in full swing. Urgent questions are primarily directed at industry, which is called upon to find answers. The "Leibniz Ecothon" project now aims to encourage students to put their creativity into the development of green technologies.
The idea behind it: As part of their studies, students develop ideas to make existing technologies more sustainable. To ensure that the knowledge they acquire can also be put into practice, they are supported by industry partners during their studies. In short, the Leibniz Ecothon aims to develop practicable technical solutions that answer real engineering questions.
The Leibniz Ecothon is designed as a student design competition in the elective or optional area of the respective degree courses. Students from different disciplines such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, natural sciences or economics should work together in a project group to find a solution to a problem in the field of green technologies. These could be technologies for adapting to climate change or technologies for saving resources.
The format is intended to make a contribution to making the Hannover Region climate-neutral by 2035. The Hannover Region Economic Committee has recommended releasing the EUR 94,206 in funding for the project, which is scheduled to run from September 2022 to June 2024. The final decision on the funding will be made by the regional assembly before the summer break on July 12, 2022.
