Micronex GmbH, Springe
We say yes to university drop-outs as an applicant group, as they offer a wide range of opportunities due to their extensive prior knowledge, have more life experience than direct school leavers and bring a positive, motivated attitude to training. This results in a win-win situation for both sides if the company manages to utilize the potential of the trainee, possibly in a shorter period of time.
Recommendation
In our view, a project like Umsteigen statt Aussteigen is necessary and represents an important social contribution to alleviating subjective insecurities and prejudices towards vocational training, offering orientation in a difficult phase of life in transition and placement with attractive employers. After all, dropping out of university is always a momentous decision for any student. In its current form, the Hannover Region's employment promotion program closes structural gaps in the existing support facilities.
Human Resources Officer Michael Wolkenstein refers to extensive practical experience with graduates and emphasizes that mobility is very important in relation to the rural company headquarters, so it can be an advantage for graduates that they usually have a driver's license and their own car.
At the same time, the company tries to offer additional qualifications such as European business management assistant or controller IHK, which further enhances the training. An early transfer of projects and responsibilities can also be useful in order to add value to the training.
"Umsteigen statt Aussteigen" is a project of the Leine-Weser skilled labor alliance and the Hanover region, funded by the European Social Fund.
