In this Basic Starter Workshop you will receive a comprehensive overview of the topic of social media.

Social media is having a major impact on the media landscape and therefore on communication channels. In this short series of workshops, you will learn about the importance and advantages social media can have for you and your corporate communications and how you can use them.

You will learn about the reasons for a social media presence and get to know the best-known and most popular social media platforms. You will also learn how to find out which platform is the right one for you and your company. The focus of the entire workshop series is the social media platform Instagram.

Participation in all three parts of the workshop is recommended, as the three workshop parts build on each other. Especially if you and your company are new to social media.

Contents and objectives of the modules

Workshop Social Media Part 1: How to Start

In the first workshop you will learn which socialmedia platformsare available. You will learn why social media is important for you and your company and how to get started in the social media world. By gaining an overview of the most common social media platforms, you will be able to recognize which ones are of interest to you and your company.

Using Instagram as an example platform in this workshop series, you will learn how to get started: account settings, biography, profile picture, etc.You will learn all the tips for your start on Instagram in this part.We will take a look at the first basic function of the platform, the "feed post", so that you can get started right away with your first Instagram post.

Social media workshop part 2: Instagram functions and the social media strategy

To participate in this part of the workshop, you should have some basic knowledge of social media in general and Instagram. Even if you do not yet have a social media page for your company, you should have some experience of using it privately.

Building on part 1 of the series, we will take a closer look at all the other functionsof the Instagram platform. You will gain a comprehensive insight into the basic features and initial functions of Instagram, but above all you will learn how to use this platform for yourself and your public image and how you can find suitable content and topics for your social media presence.

The second focus of this part of the workshop is on developing your own social media strategy. With the support of the instructor, we will develop a clear strategy for you and your company for your social media presence.

Workshop "Social Media" Part 3: Defining formats, reels and tips

To participate in this part of the workshop, you should already have opened a business Instagram account for your company and have already published your first posts. This workshop is about defining formats for an editorial plan asthe conclusion of the social media strategy. With clearly defined formats, the instructor will provide valuable tips for operational implementation: working with an editorial plan, how to create and prepare content and which platforms are helpful for this.
