aha drives into the future with hydrogen
The diesel-powered refuse vehicle is becoming history. In future, the waste disposal company AHA in the Hanover region wants to rely on fuel cells. The vehicles are not suitable for a purely battery-electric drive, they require too much energy and the batteries would be too heavy.
Hydrogen makes the vehicles locally emission-free
To become completely emission-free, AHA wants toproduceits own greenhydrogen. This is to be achieved using energy from a photovoltaic system on the landfill hill in Lahe and by converting the methane gas obtained from residual waste into electricity. The green hydrogen produced in this way can then be used directly on site at the company's own hydrogen filling station.
Waste collection vehicles are a very good candidate for the use of fuel cells. They have a specific area of application and always require the same amount of energy on their routes. This represents an excellent opportunity for the Hannover Region to develop a hydrogen infrastructure. AHA can lead the way here as a pioneer.
