A detailed look at the recent positive trend in employment figures by selected characteristics reveals individual developments with regard to gender, scope of employment, education, nationality and age.

The following developments in the employee structure can be observed in 2023 (reporting date 30.06.)

  • The proportion of female employees (46.1 %) continues to gradually decrease (2014: 46.9 %).
  • The proportion of employees with an academic vocational qualification (20.8%) is significantly higher than in Lower Saxony and Germany and continues to rise.
  • The proportion of foreign employees has increased as a result of the war in Ukraine and currently stands at 14.8 percent.
  • The proportion of full-time employees subject to social security contributions continues to fall, while the proportion of part-time employees is rising slightly.
